I finished Alpha Protocol last night. I think it was a pretty great game. The combat and stealth systems are a bit rough around the edges, but that's okay. It kind of reminds me of the old Syphon Filter games that way.
The thing I really liked about AP is how the dialogue choices and your actions during a mission really shape the story. Both Mass Effect games had a couple big choices in them, but AP has huge choices around nearly every corner. Pretty much everyone in the game (except the evil corporation guys, of course) are either potential allies, potential enemies, or potentially dead. It's really quite amazing.
I'm sure Mass Effect 1 & 2 kept the choices pretty simple in order to easily progress the story from one game to another, but I really hope that ME3 (which should be the end of the series, I believe.. or at least this story arc) lets you make some major decisions along the lines of AP.
Genre/Style:
Role-playing/Third-Person 3D Action RPG
Release Date:
25/MAY/10
I disagree with you on everyone except the "evil corporation guys." being allies or other. After you run through it more you'll see what I mean.
Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying. Feel free to explain with spoilers.
OK so during your run you either killed off AP (fought Westridge), or killed off Halbech (killed Leland), or you killed off both.
Also Mike can either join either AP, or Halbech depending on how you spoke with everyone.
Also Mike can take over Halbech as the new leader depending on how many people trust him.
That's just the heavy story ending. Then did you find out the assassin (Scarlet)? Did you piss off Heck (in Tiawan), or join him? Did you end with Mina, or did you end with no one on the boat? Or did you kill every person that was invovled?
So when you said, "Pretty much everyone in the game (except the evil corporation guys, of course) are either potential allies, potential enemies, or potentially dead. It's really quite amazing."
I disagree because you can join them or kill them or become them.

I was mostly goodie-twoshoes because I wanted as many allies as possible. So Scarlet joined me (until the @#$% shot me, and then I had Mina shoot her dead. No mercy for traitors) and had a love scene with me, Mina had a love scene with me, Heck joined me, Al Samad teamed up with me, Albatross and Sis joined me, SIE joined me but I didn't really do anything with her after that.. and I left on the boat with Mina. I spared Westridge but I killed Leland at the very, very end (they sure give you enough opportunities before that).
So, are you saying that you can actually team up with Westridge and Co.? Or are you just saying that you can get them in the ending? Because what I meant was that you can become allies with your enemies during the course of the game, not just as the very end.
The hardest is taking the company Halbech for yourself. Or should we call it Thorton Inc. Anyway you have to have every person you speak to as an ally. Everyone from Grigori , to Nasri. That doesn't mean everyone needs to be on liked, trusted, or friendly. But they need to be neutral at 0 or 1. Anything below and you will not get that ending.
Then there is the kill everyone ending. Meaning not only do you kill Nasri and have Sung assassinated but you need to personally see Mina killed. As well as everyone else. When you do this one you need only Heck alive.
The other endings just depend on how much intel and if Westridge or Leland like you or hate you. Lack of intel usually means you fight Leland only.
If only they put as much time into polishing the game play as they did the story. Oh well. Maybe in AP2? *crosses fingers*
Sometimes I try to compare which company has the most bugs. Obsidian or NISA? I enjoy games from both companies but there are times I would like to see the products I buy be developed better.
